Cape Town

I was so pleased to have a really great sleep last night, I woke up feeling so refreshed!

Today was designated as our Cape Town day. So we drove in to town and found parking near the waterfront (thank goodness for GPS). We'd decided back in Vancouver that we'd so a Hop On/off tour for efficiency and to avoid walking or driving. We only hopped off once when Dad had to run an errand, but the option was nice!! It was quite well done, taking us all over- downtown, waterfront, up in the fancy hotel zone, down through district 6, then over to Table Mountain, up to the top of Signal Hill for amazing views, then over and down to the other side of the mountain seeing the 12 Apostles, Camps Bay, Clifton Beach, all around to Green Point where the new stadium for the World Cup, and back to waterfront. But I have to say, even as a Canadian who can handle grey days and rain, well, it was stupid cold on that bus. The south-easter wind was howling and ooooh we were frozen!!!

After the tour we rushed into the Two Oceans aquarium, first to use their cafe to warm up and have lunch, but then to visit the site itself!! What a lovely little place. 6 odd rooms, all about different marine Eco-systems, well presented and very kid friendly. We had fun exploring and warming up (and getting creeped out!!)

After the Aquarium we walked across the street to a market where we bought a few mementos- we are mostly waiting till elsewhere for shopping.

The drive back home took ages as we were bang-smack in the heart of rush hour. Picked up a cooked chicken on the way home and are settling in for the evening with a delicious bottle of wine and yummy meal.

Forecast is for rain tomorrow, so we have cancelled our original plans and are considering our rainy-day options!
